Spring is one of my favorite seasons, even though it never lasts very long.
These past few days of warm weather, with the first buds starting to appear, have me so excited. We’re so close.
For a while now, I’ve been thinking about how I wanted to photograph spring differently.
I’ve always loved cherry blossom sessions, but they can feel rushed. A little like a race. A lot of photographers, a short window, everyone trying to catch the same thing at the same time.
And while I love the blossoms, I’ve always loved all of spring. The way new blooms show up week by week, and the way the colors shift as everything unfolds.
This year, I have a permit at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum for the entire spring.
It’s a place I’ve always loved. It’s open to the public, but it doesn’t feel crowded or overwhelming. Their photo policy keeps it from feeling overrun, and that was really important to me as I thought through where to do this.
It’s smaller, quieter, and full of variety. Yes, there are cherry blossoms, but there’s so much more.
In Bloom is set up as a series, not just one set of sessions.
Because the garden doesn’t stay the same, and neither does this season.

April is where everything starts.
Cherry blossoms, magnolias, daffodils, tulips. The first signs of green coming through.
It’s softer. A little quieter. And it only looks like this for a short window.

May is when everything really comes into bloom.
The garden fills in with azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, and lilacs. Roses start to open. There’s color everywhere you look, and it feels completely different from April.

June feels different again.
The rose garden is the star, but the whole space is full. Lush green, deep color, and something that’s harder to name.
It’s less about one specific bloom and more about being in it.
More than anything, I want this to feel like an experience.
Not rushed. Not crowded.
There’s time to walk the paths, notice what’s blooming, and let your kids move through it instead of pulling them from spot to spot.
Sessions here range from full custom sessions to shorter ones, and the space works beautifully for both. Everything is close together, so there’s always variety, no matter how much time we have.
I’ll be opening a limited number of sessions for each chapter.
April dates are open now.
If spring family photos in New Jersey have been on your mind, this is where I’ll be.
I’m really excited to share this space with you.
No two sessions will look the same.
That’s the point.
